The Graphic Design pathway includes those occupations that use visual art, digital media, and Web-based tools and materials as the primary means of communication and expression. In addition to an understanding of current workplace practice, this career pathway requires the development of knowledge and skills in both visual art concepts as well as new and emerging digital processes by which individuals are able to create and communicate complex concepts in a broad range of occupations and professions.

Intro to Digital Design is an introductory graphic design class that fulfills dual enrollment requirements with Sierra College. Students who meet registration deadlines and grade requirements will get free college credit! This class teaches the art of visual communication through typography, color and imagery. Students will create a visual journal and begin to learn Adobe’s suite of creative programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. Assignments are often tied to community requests, so student work is frequently used in the real world. This is a class for creative students who enjoy technology. Portfolio Development and Presentation (Graphic Design II)

This is the capstone course in the Graphic Design pathway. This course continues the work of the introductory class but includes new goals: portfolio development, client management and Adobe certification. The culmination of a portfolio with two years of graphic design work is the final for this course. In addition to the portfolio, students will prepare for certification exams in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or inDesign.
